Why was NSPIS HR created?
Answering with confidence the questions, ‘How many people do we have, what skills do they possess and where are they right now?’ was challenging for many Forces. Faced with a myriad of disparate systems (see below), all trying to capture pieces of HR data, this presents a significant challenge. The overhead of maintaining these various data sources was significant in itself but actually delivering consistently accurate information from them was near impossible.
Recognising this problem the Service came together to specify a fully integrated Resource Management System to deal with this. NSPIS HR pulls together the huge range of disparate IT systems previously used by Forces for personnel data into four comprehensive and fully integrated modules: Police Personnel, Duty Management, Training, and Health & Safety. NSPIS HR becomes the single source of truth for a Force’s HR information.
NSPIS HR drives four main deliverables: Efficiency Gains, Operational Effectiveness, Compliance, and Return on Investment. A strong user group ensures the application continues both to grow in a timely manner and to be focused on delivering these benefits for all Forces committed to the system. Forces signed up to NSPIS HR know that the costs for all future upgrades and developments are shared with all other Forces using the system, thereby minimising the overall cost for each individual Force due to this cost dilution.
